New challenges Akar: In the Aegean, the bad neighbor keeps harassing us

Hulusi Akar, as reported by SKAI’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, said: “In the Aegean, the bad neighbor is constantly harassing us. Let me say clearly that we don’t do any harassment, if they don’t do it to us. We will not allow any fait accompli.”

A barrage of challenges from Ankara at the expense of Greece.

The Turkish Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar, made an insulting speech against Greece, as reported by the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul. Manolis Kostidisstated:

“In the Aegean, the bad neighbor keeps harassing us. Let me say clearly that we don’t do any harassment, if they don’t do it to us. This applies to the Navy, Air Force and Army. What we are doing is that we will not allow our rights to be violated. We will not allow any fait accompli. This is certain”.

Reiterating Turkish claims of blocking Turkish fighter jets by Greek S-300s – categorically denied by Athens – he said: “In the past, although we negotiated with the US long-range air defense systems, to defend our airspace, they did not give us the Patriot system. We talked to the French, they didn’t give us the SAMP-T. So we went and bought the S-400s.”

He continued: “Then they were up in arms, ‘how can you buy a system like that?’ Now, on August 23rd, the inferior version of this system, the S-300s, locked onto Turkish F-16s on their radar while on a NATO mission.

What our evil neighbor has done must be known, publicized and denounced. Such flagrant recklessness, such a spoiled attitude is unacceptable.”
