“From the first moment the government demanded full answers,” government sources said
Government sources commented on the position of the former prime minister Konstantinou Karamanlis on the case of surveillance.
As they stated, the government from the first moment asked for full answers, while all the prescribed procedures were immediately initiated.
“From the first moment that the case of Mr. Androulakis’ phone being connected came to light at the initiative of the government, it was emphasized that there is a need to give full answers, respecting the provisions of the law on privacy and the regulation of the Parliament. That is why all the parliamentary procedures were initiated immediately, while the case is also being investigated by the judiciary. The Institutions and Transparency Committee meets tomorrow, followed by the meetings of the Inquiry Committee. The prime minister has asked for proposals from the parties in order for there to be institutional improvements that will ensure the effective operation of the security services with full respect for democratic principles,” the government sources said.
