Diplomatic sources: Turkey is now moving on the edge of science fiction

by

Diplomatic sources said that Cavusoglu’s letter “unfortunately is a monument to the distortion of reality to such an extent that it exceeds the limits of logic”

THE recent letter sent by Turkey in International Organizations, as well as in some Member States of the European Union, repeats ad nauseam its permanent, non-existent and illegal unilateral complaints, comment diplomatic sources from Athens.

The same sources also stated that “the objections in question have no basis, on the contrary they contradict fundamental rules of International Law and especially International Law of the Sea”.

They also note that “unfortunately, this letter is a monument to the distortion of reality to such an extent that it exceeds the limits of logic and now moves into the realm of science fiction.

Greece has repeatedly rejected all of the Turkish objections with a series of arguments, which are also contained in the relevant letters it has sent to the UN Secretary General.

The fact that the letter ends by asking its recipients [ΕΕ, ΟΗΕ, ΝΑΤΟ] “to contribute to efforts to strengthen peace and security in the Aegean by encouraging Greece to avoid escalating rhetoric and related actions, as well as to start a meaningful dialogue with Turkey, on the basis of International Law”, only as an irony can to be perceived.

Suffice it to repeat that, as Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias pointed out to his French counterpart Catherine Colonna yesterday: “Turkish officials state publicly and repeatedly that ‘the islands [του Αιγαίου βρίσκονται υπό ελληνική κατοχή’, η Τουρκία ‘μπορεί να έρθει νύχτα’ να τα καταλάβει και ότι ‘η Ελλάδα δεν είναι ισότιμη της Τουρκίας. Δεν είναι συνομιλητής της’».
