The importance of the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki for the Greek economy, international relations and economic diplomacy, with an emphasis on the fact that this year’s honored country is the United Arab Emirates, as well as for the government, the Minister of Foreign Affairs underlines in an article in the digital newspaper Political Nikos Dendias.

“Every year, the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki is a landmark institution for the Greek economy, as well as for the country’s international economic relations,” emphasizes Nikos Dendias at the beginning of his article.

He also attaches particular importance to the fact that in the 86th edition of the TIF the honored country is the United Arab Emirates, “due to the strategic relationship we have built with the friendly country of the Middle East in all fields”.

At this point, he recalls the agreement between the government of Greece and the government of the United Arab Emirates regarding cooperation in foreign policy and defense, which was ratified last March by the Hellenic Parliament. An Agreement, as Nikos Dendias underlines, which includes a mutual defense assistance clause and demonstrates in practice the common commitment of our states to security and stability in the wider region.

Focusing on the economic dimension of the 86th TIF, he points out that it is also another opportunity for the country’s economic diplomacy, attracting investments and strengthening exports, and mentions that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively participating through the General Secretariat of International Economic Relations and Outreach, in collaboration with Enterprise Greece (EG) and the Hellenic Export Credit Company (ECG), both with a stand and a series of events. In this context, he notes that yesterday the 2nd meeting of the External Affairs Council was held in Thessaloniki, on the occasion of the TIF, under the responsible Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Costas Fragogiannis.

At the same time, Nikos Dendias emphasizes, the Thessaloniki International Fair is an opportunity for the Mitsotakis government to listen to the concerns of the productive classes, in the midst of a critical international situation, especially in the energy sector. “But it is also an opportunity for the government to prove again in practice that New Democracy is a truly popular party, with care for the weak. A party that combines economic development with social cohesion, but also a government that successfully manages yet another exogenous crisis,” he added.

In this light, he expresses his certainty that “the presence of the prime minister at the 86th TIF will be the starting point for the victory of New Democracy in next year’s elections and the continuation of the government’s work”.
