The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou attended the festive events organized by the Municipality of Megistis to celebrate the 79th Anniversary of the liberation of the island.
Mrs. Sakellaropoulou, after the eulogy at the Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helen and the laying of a wreath at the Fallen Memorial, made the following statement:
“We celebrate seventy-nine years since the liberation of Kastellorizos and honor the struggles and sacrifices of our islanders. Who keep their national spirit indomitable and continue to defend this bastion of Hellenism against all odds, brave and proud, like their ancestors.
