Andreas Loverdos: In the elections of December 12, I will vote for Nikos Androulakis

by

Andreas Loverdos announced his support for Nikos Androulakis for the leadership of the Movement for Change, clarifying that he had no previous contact with him. “I declare that I self-respectfully respect the majority of December 5 and that in the elections of Sunday, December 12 I will vote for Nikos Androulakis, noting that until the announcement of this statement I did not have the slightest contact with him,” he said.

“One of the candidates has been tested and the hopes that his project raises are therefore limited,” notes the KINAL MP, leaving tips for George Papandreou. Regarding the disadvantage of Nikos Androulakis, he notes that “he is not a Member of the Greek Parliament, with all that entails”.

“The process of electing the new President is leading to a second round. I tried both privately and publicly to prevent this, but I was not convinced,” said Mr. Loverdos.

THE STATEMENT OF ANDREA LOVERDOU

“I thank from the bottom of my heart the 270,000 citizens, who with inexhaustible patience managed to vote and turned December 5 into a celebration of the Republic. I express my condolences to those who could not stand the long wait in line and so did not vote, at the responsibility of those who did not want more ballots.

I will never forget the 70,000 citizens who honored me with their vote. I will give all my strength to respond to their choice, as well as its content and messages. During the election period, my candidacy and its supporters won many points in the battle of ideas that we gave. The restoration of PASOK and its symbols, the goal of more than doubling the forces, the restoration of the patriotic character of the Democratic Party, etc. We have also tried with all our might to bring to the forefront of the pre-election debate the need for reforms for the economy and the welfare state. We continue our struggle vigorously with modesty and unity, faithful to our principles and values, as we stated them during the pre-election period.

The process of electing the new President leads to a second round. I tried to prevent this both privately and publicly, but I was not convinced. Both candidates have specific characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, like all of us. One of the candidates has been tested and the hopes that his project raises are therefore limited. The other candidate is not a Member of Parliament in the Greek Parliament, with all that entails.

It is neither in my character, nor do I consider it right for a politician like me to try to “guide” the tens of thousands of citizens who voted for him. My fellow citizens, however, will always know what I think and what I decide. And because I am a politician of positions and I never hid my views, I declare that I self-respectfully respect the majority of December 5 and that in the elections of Sunday, December 12 I will vote for Nikos Androulakis, noting that until the announcement of this statement I did not have the slightest communication with him”.
