Koutsoubas from the TIF: KKE’s “No” to a cooperation government – 15 seats to exit the crisis

by

The general secretary of the KKE presented fifteen positions of the party to get out of the crisis and precision

“The people themselves can and must become the protagonist of developments. With a single nationwide race. With preparation and organization “from below”, the general secretary of the KKE emphasized Dimitris Koutsoubas, in his speech, at noon, at TIF.

“What is needed today for hope and optimism to be reborn is a new competitive start, with the KKE in front, strong. No waiting, then, our people should not show. No tolerance. Because it no longer has any strength”, stressed Mr. Koutsoubas and added: “Only the people can save the people and for that we need a much stronger KKE”.

Mr. Koutsoubas also referred to the next elections and cooperation scenarios that are being discussed on the way to the elections. “What unites ND, SYRIZA and PASOK today, as well as the other bourgeois parties, is much more than what separates them. And they could very well build their next bourgeois government – both numerically and above all politically – if this is what capital and its allies demand. And Mr. Mitsotakis, who spoke about the formation of a government, which he characterized as “political – monstrosity”, foolishly including the KKE, knows this and realizes it! commented Mr. Koutsoubas.

“So all of you, leave the KKE out of your dirty games,” he emphasized and added: “The KKE, you know well, as the entire Greek people know, is not going to support you, but neither tolerate you in such a government of calamity for the people, as it has not done all these years”.

The general secretary of the KKE presented fifteen positions of the party for an exit from the crisis and accuracy, “answers to today’s impasses”, as he said:

– Comprehensive plan to immediately exploit all domestic energy sources – such as lignite – on environmental terms, against EU commitments on “green growth” and emissions trading.

– Abolition of the Energy Exchange and all contracts that define adjustment clauses.

– Withdrawal of the country from the EU sanctions against Russia, which are ultimately paid for by the people, while parts of the capital hoard from the transport of the very expensive American LNG.

– Abolition of the Excise Tax and the VAT on oil, petrol, natural gas and electricity.

– Bold reduction and ceiling on the price of electricity and natural gas.

– Abolition of charging the RES tax on electricity bills.

– No power cut for those who cannot meet the exorbitant bills.

– Debt write-off for working-class households and professionals.

-Increase of the minimum wage, according to the proposals of labor unions, for the new National General Collective Labor Agreement.

– Restoration of the 13th and 14th salary for the State, with restoration of the 13th and 14th pension.

– Increases in pensions.

– Unemployment allowance of 80% of the minimum wage for all unemployed.

– A bold reduction and price ceiling on the basic items of general consumption, such as food (e.g. bread, milk, flour, oils), clothing, etc.

– Abolition of VAT on basic consumer goods.

– Rent subsidy for ordinary households, students and small businesses, broadening the inclusion criteria and increasing the subsidy.

– Abolition of the ENFIA for ordinary households and the Business Tax for professionals.

Mr. Koutsoubas argued that for energy poverty and precision, the EU guidelines themselves, market liberalization, the energy exchange, privatizations and “EU commitments, which serve the interests of the big capital, at the expense of the peoples of Europe”.

“That’s why they are preparing for cuts in household energy consumption, while loading the people with new loans to give some subsidies”, Mr. Koutsoubas emphasized and added: “ND, SYRIZA and PASOK support these options, which were implemented before the start of the Russian countermeasures by closing the pipelines”.

He also emphasized that all the “civilian parties”, to the extent attributed to them, are “jointly responsible” for the country’s “deeper involvement, not only in the energy war, but also overall in the imperialist confrontation between Russia, the USA, NATO”, and he questioned that NATO is a “shield” against Turkey’s aggression, saying that it, on the contrary, “feeds” on “the action of NATO – USA – EU, as well as their major confrontations with China and Russia”.

“Therefore, no trust in the ND government and the other forces of Euro-Atlanticism, who alternate the “yoke nursemaids” with their hugs at the NATO Summits and the various business councils of the capitalist market,” he stressed.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s announcements at the TIF about a “thirty-year record” in attracting investment, he questioned whether workers benefited from this and referred to a number of examples of layoffs and workplace problems, such as Kavala fertilizers, LARCO, Malamatina, etc., saying : “They sow winds, but they will reap storms. The relief measures, the big package, it is more than obvious that it can do little to relieve the workers. The amount of the “package”, even if it finally reaches the 5.5 billion that is being extended, translates into approximately 500 euros per person… The measures announced at the TIF are nothing more than a new redistribution of poverty and misery, between in the popular strata. With taxes, with inflation, with soaring prices…. The government says it “gives” 5.5 billion. Really, from where? Can someone really give to the people, when he takes them from one pocket and gives them to the other?”

Mr. Koutsoubas also referred to the farmers and the expensive fertilizers, to the pensioners, saying that the government presents as benefits what the courts awarded them and argued that “it takes a lot of courage for the prime minister to advertise the government’s work in Education and Health “, while he also talked about the shortages at the universities and added: “And there is no shortage of MAT and the university police installed by the government.”

He also wondered what the five hundred euros a year will cover for those students who are entitled to it, from rent to the huge cost of food, clothing. “It gives 250 euros to 2.5 million people, that is 70 minutes a day. Are these 70 minutes a day really going to solve the huge problem of punctuality? Weird math… Let’s stop the mockery, we say to them,” stressed Mr. Koutsoumbas, while he did not leave idle the announcements about the projects in Thessaloniki, the metro, the OASTH, the flood control, the “expensive” and “with PPP that our people will pay for years” fly over, the Sheikh Su, the renovation of the TIF exhibition center, saying that the rulers make “every year announcements about the same few projects – patches”.

He also described as “wretched” and “unacceptable” the case of monitoring the president of PASOK and the KKE call center, other officials, journalists, etc., but added that neither SYRIZA nor PASOK are talking today “about the abolition of the whole dark and dangerous institutional framework for surveillance and eavesdropping” because “all of them either voted for, supported, or tolerated this whole mess of EU laws, directives and regulations, which in essence target the freedoms and rights of the people”.

“This sad, miserable reality has a name. It’s Capitalism. It is the commitments to the EU and NATO” said Mr. Koutsoubas and added: “KKE will continue to illuminate the truth. In recent years, with ND, PASOK and SYRIZA, but also any combination of them, the gap between capital and labor is constantly widening. The people become poorer and for capitalist development to come, for the rich to become richer. This is why the struggle of the people can have continuity, duration and perspective, only when they join the battle
