The Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that they discussed energy, the interconnection of Greece with Egypt, the role that Egypt can play in the energy security of the European Union.
The message that “the Mitsotakis government is promoting an ambitious plan with which Greece will become an energy hub and through the interconnection with Egypt will be able to provide the European market with possibilities to deal with the crisis created in the energy balance by the Russian invasion of Ukraine”, sent the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias in his statements after the tripartite meeting with his counterparts of Egypt Sameh Soukri and Cyprus Ioannis Kasoulides, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, in New York.
“Today we had a very interesting meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Sameh Soukry and immediately after a tripartite meeting between Greece, Egypt and the Republic of Cyprus, with Ioannis Kasoulidis” said Nikos Dendias. In this context, all the problems of the region were discussed, said Nikos Dendias. He also announced that they discussed energy issues, the interconnection between Greece and Egypt, the role that Egypt can play in the energy security of the European Union.
Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs underlined that “as is well known, with Egypt we have a cordial understanding and an identical perception of a series of problems and situations and we have the same attitude towards Turkish aggression and Turkish questioning of UNCLOS and its application in the Eastern Mediterranean ».
