Regarding the possibility of power outages in the winter, Mr. Skrekas emphasized that he puts his hand in the fire that the government did everything possible to ensure that we don’t have power outages.
The comparison will be made with last year’s electricity consumption in order to give the bonus of 50 euros to citizens who will reduce their electricity consumption by 15%, as explained by the Minister of Energy Kostas Skrekas on SKAI TV and the show “Morning” with George Ears.
Mr. Skrekas explained that the “measurement cycles” of DEDDIE are fixed every four months or every eight months in remote areas, there is the possibility to divide it into average daily consumption.
“So, since the household achieves an average daily saving of 15% in energy consumption, the next liquidator can see an additional subsidy that will help him even more to have a lower electricity bill,” the minister emphasized.
We have done everything possible to avoid power outages
Regarding the possibility of power outages in the winter, Mr. Skrekas emphasized that he puts his hand in the fire that the government did everything possible to ensure that we don’t have power outages. He cited as an example the floating tank installed in Revythoussa to double the natural gas capacity. He added, however, that an energy war is underway, with Russia instrumentalizing Europe’s dependence on natural gas.
Regarding citizens’ debts to electricity companies, the minister emphasized that both PPC and private providers offer the possibility of settling overdue debts in installments and that the government absorbs the largest percentage of the increase in electricity in order to help households.
Recycle – Change Device and diesel
For the Recycle – Change device program, Mr. Skrekas emphasized that an extension was given until November 1 for the completion of purchases, as there are still several beneficiaries who, while they have reserved the vouchers, have not redeemed them.
200,000 beneficiaries who are runners-up will then be given the opportunity to receive vouchers and purchase new, highly energy-upgraded appliances.
The minister explained that an Inverter air conditioner can be an economical way of heating in winter.
What will be done with the 15 cent diesel subsidy?
Regarding motor oil for cars, Mr. Skrekas emphasized that as international prices have been de-escalating for the 7th consecutive week, it seems that no additional subsidy is needed. He clarified that if this picture changes and always within the framework of the budget possibilities, the government will do everything it can to support the citizens.
