Mitsotakis to MPs: “Society is having a hard time – Measured and modest in our communication”

by

“We must not sometimes, through the promotion of government work – which must be done – ignore this other side of reality,” the prime minister emphasized to K.O.

At her meeting Parliamentary Her team SWon the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the founding of the party, the Prime Minister spoke today.

At the meeting, 27 MPs took the floor, while at the end, Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis – among others – noted:

I want us to be very measured in how we communicate in these extremely difficult times. We have a lot to demonstrate as a government project and I think you are right when you sometimes point out that in the thick of developments many of the important things that are being done don’t ultimately get through to the citizens.

However, there is a general feeling among the citizens that this Government is producing a lot of important work. As there is also the feeling, that there is a significant reserve of confidence despite the very great difficulties we have to face.

However, there is also the other side of reality: it also says that society is having a hard time, there is great uncertainty about the coming winter. There are still many problems that have not been resolved, most of which are a result of the cost of living and the imported crisis that has arisen since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and we must be completely attuned to the feelings of citizens in our political discourse.

I say that because we must not sometimes through the promotion of government work – which must be done – ignore this other side of reality.

I think you are all very experienced to know that we should maintain this balance and demonstrate the necessary modesty in our communication so that the citizens do not feel that we are proud of the many and important successes”.
