Vulin: Serbia-Greece cooperation at a very high level confirms the eternally friendly ties of the two countries
The high level of cooperation between Serbia and Greece was pointed out by the Serbian Minister of the Interior, Aleksandar Vulin, with references indicative of “the brotherly relations between our peoples”.
Mr. Vulin stated that illegal immigration is an issue that exerts pressure on both countries, noting that Serbia is against the instrumentalization of migrants and their use as a means of pressure on a country and especially Greece and their exploitation for politicians reasons. He emphasized that they do not concern (including the migration flows) a humanitarian crisis, but rather “organized gangs” whose activity began in 2015 with the illegal trafficking of people, weapons and drugs and are a threat both to Greece and Serbia, in which he said the capture of several armed gangs was achieved. He expressed the opinion that the E.E. is obliged to take a joint decision regarding illegal immigration and that “no country related to migration flows, let alone Greece, should be left alone. If the European Union considers that we are talking about a humanitarian crisis then let it make those moves so that these people can legally enter its countries. If he believes that we are not talking about a humanitarian crisis, but if he shares Serbia’s position that we are talking about organized gangs, then we should consider any illegal movement as a criminal offence. Until that happens, we will continue to fight together.”
With reference to the signing of the Greece-Serbia Agreement for the realization of joint patrols by the police authorities of the two countries, he clarified that Serbian citizens feel absolutely safe in Greece and that the said Agreement is “a way to help our Greek colleagues but also to send a message to our citizens about exactly where they are safe.”
Mr. Vulin also made special mention of the support, as he said, that Greece shows regarding the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Serbia and the special support of the Greek people, a “truly brotherly people”.
