“Our own country, with the help of the money from the Recovery Fund as well as the high growth and the great investment interest that has been there especially in the last year, will avoid the recession” pointed out the Deputy Minister of Finance

The opinion that our country will avoid recession, due to the crisis created throughout Europe by the war in Ukraine, was expressed this evening from Chania by the Deputy Minister of Finance Theodoros Skylakakis, speaking to journalists on the sidelines of an event on “Opportunities and prospects of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0”, organized by the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Special Recovery Fund Coordination Service.

Answering a question about the effects that the war in Ukraine may have on our country and on the whole of Europe, he said: “Europe will definitely slow down and several countries will go into recession.

Our own country, with the help of the Recovery Fund money as well as the high growth and the great investment interest that has been there especially in the last year, will avoid the recession. We will have a slowdown but when this war is over, we will have a very big dynamic in the economy.”

Referring to the Greece 2.0 Recovery and Resilience Fund program, he argued that it can significantly strengthen the domestic economy, characterizing it as a great opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses. At the same time, he called it crucial to inform businesses about the possibilities of the program, calling on entrepreneurs to act quickly in order to benefit from it.

For his part, the president of the Greek Chamber of Commerce, Konstantinos Kollias, stated that, “these are funds that small and medium-sized businesses are in great need of, funds that in order for the country to be able to absorb them in time, we must move quickly”.

He also emphasized that accountants and tax experts need to be informed in order to inform their clients, i.e. the companies themselves, of all the possibilities of utilizing these funds, whether it concerns grants or loans.

Mr. Skylakakis, as part of his presence in Chania, will meet tomorrow Friday with the mayor Panagiotis Simandirakis and then he will participate in a broad meeting of mayors and the deputy governor.

In the afternoon he will be in Heraklion for the event of the Economic Chamber of Eastern Crete for the National Recovery Plan.
