The statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, attending today’s EU Foreign Affairs Council

Among other things, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will inform his European counterparts at today’s EU Foreign Affairs Council about the Turkish-Libyan memorandum, which is dangerous for security in the Mediterranean, as he said in a statement coming to the meeting.

“We will have the opportunity today in the Council to have a new discussion about the situation that has been created in Ukraine, during this phase of dealing with the Russian invasion.

For me this is extremely important, since I hope to be able to be in Kyiv tomorrow.

Beyond that, we have to discuss the Agreement between Israel and Lebanon, an Agreement that concerns maritime zones and is extremely important, another successful example of the peaceful resolution of such disputes in the Mediterranean.

I will also have the opportunity to inform the Council about the so-called “memorandum” signed between the government of Tripoli and Turkey for the exploitation of resources from these marine zones.

A “memorandum”, which creates additional risks for security and stability in the Mediterranean”.
