Nasos Iliopoulos: The auctions more than tripled compared to last year

by

“Based on the data, we have more than three times more auctions compared to last year, and not even 3 out of 100 go out of court,” the SYRIZA spokesperson claims.

“We are faced with bankruptcy of the large majority of society under the responsibility of the Mitsotakis government”, said the press representative of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Nasos Iliopoulos.

“The government must first answer for Mr. Patsis. We have a government MP who appears to own foreign special purpose vehicles, which they bought 63 million bad loans at a price of 4.3 million and Mr. Patsis is profiting from this,” he noted and added: “This, in addition to ethical issues, also raises issues of legality.” “We ask that the competent committee of the Parliament be convened for to be checked and where you came from of the particular member of parliament”, emphasized Mr. Iliopoulos.

He also pointed out that this case comes in the wake of the decision of the Supreme Court “which says that servicers – the management companies that represent funds – cannot do auctions. Based on the evidence, we have more than triple auctions compared to last year and not even 3 out of 100 go to court”.

Regarding accuracy, he repeated the positions of SYRIZA-PS: “Reducing excise duty on fuel and reducing VAT on basic food items would be a breath of fresh air”. “Greece had the biggest monthly increase in inflation in the EU in September. That in itself shows that something is wrong here,” he added. “The reduction of the EFF has already been done in a number of European countries, it is a political choice of the government that it is not done here”, he underlined.

“When we get £4bn extra tax revenue from VAT, it’s because of accuracy and inflation, not because we’re consuming more. And the government essentially gives this money to the energy providers”, asserted the SYRIZA press representative.

Stressing the need to put a limit to this policy, Mr. Iliopoulos called for mass participation in the GSEE-ADEDY general strike on November 9: “To show the world that things can’t go any further and that they can go differently.”

“The country can have a government with simple proportionality. From our side we have talked concretely, programmatically about what we will do, about the energy, about the salary. With every force that defines itself as progressive, we are here to discuss”, concluded the press representative of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance.
