The Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, addressed the Plenary of the Parliament, referring to the new Penal Code, which is harmonized with European Law and the demands of society.
The Minister emphasized that the public’s sense of justice is satisfied by the tightening of the framework for the release of prisoners who have been sentenced to life imprisonment, that is, those who have committed heinous crimes, murderers, drug dealers, child rapists and terrorists.
At the same time, as Mr. Theodorikakos pointed out, the prison system is being modernized with a network of regulations, which ensures equality of rights and human dignity in the way of life of prisoners.
Addressing the official opposition, the Minister of Citizen Protection criticized the attitude of SYRIZA because, as he said, it deals only with the elections and refuses to accept reality.
