A visit to the Acropolis and a reception at the Presidential Palace is included in the program of King William – Alexander and Queen Maxima
King William-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are visiting Greece until November 2, at the invitation of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The royal couple was welcomed on Sunday evening at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias.
The program of the royal couple of the Netherlands has begun today with the laying of a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and at this moment they have a private meeting with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
Then, at 10:30, the royal couple will have a meeting with the Ombudsman of Greece and the Netherlands at the Dutch Institute of Athens and at 13:30 they will visit the Archaeological site of the Acropolis.
At 15:00 they will meet with the mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, in Technopolis, followed by a reception for the Dutch community.
In the evening, at 20:00, the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will host an official dinner at the Presidential Palace in honor of the King and Queen of the Netherlands.
The second day of the official visit includes at 09:35 the participation of the King and Queen of the Netherlands, together with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, in the round table discussion on violence against women, in the foyer of the National Library of Greece, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
Immediately after, at 11:00, they will attend the 14th innovation and start-up entrepreneurship competition “The Squeeze” at the Lighthouse of the Cultural Center of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
At 12:25 p.m. the royal couple of the Netherlands is scheduled to visit the “Elpida” Children’s Oncology Unit and at 3:00 p.m. a school unit and facilities for accommodating minors.
On Tuesday evening, at 20:00, the return event of the King and Queen of the Netherlands in honor of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will be held at the Concert Hall.
On Wednesday, November 2King William-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands will move from Athens to Thessaloniki to continue and complete their official visit to our country.
