Clear message from the Prime Minister about Greece’s clear positions but also about the motivations for the crescendo of challenges from the Turkish president who has to face official inflation at 85%

Calmly and fully prepared diplomatically and in the field Athens is monitoring the new escalation of Turkish threats, then the intimidating messages it tried to send Tayyip Erdogan with his TV interview on the Turkish channel AlHaber, threatening even Athens with Typhoon ballistic missiles.
A new crescendo by the Turkish president, which the Greek prime minister from Germany where he participated in the Berlin Process on the Western Balkans, attributed to Ankara’s internal impasses, as the country collapses economically, its citizens are plagued by poverty and its governance Tayyip Erdogan is threatened with “exit” from power. “Although Greece had more than 85% inflation, perhaps I too would like to constantly change the discussion and direct it to other areas and other topics” commented emphatically Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
While referring to the incessant incendiary statements of the Turkish leadership, the Greek prime minister remarked that if he responded to the statements of Turkish officials every time they challenge Greece verbally, “I think I would not do another job” he said and added “I have said many times that I do not we are about to enter an inexpensive statement competition. Greece’s positions are very clear, they have been stated many times and I have nothing more to add to it”.
It was preceded by the direct threat by the mouth of the Turkish president, allegedly intimidating Athens with the Turkish Typhoon missile, while he insisted on reversing the reality, calling on Greece to gather its wits and stop the provocations. “Our recent test launch was with “Tayfun” – it drove the Greeks crazy. said the Turkish president in a televised interview, announcing that in the next step Turkey will increase its range above the 561 kilometers it is now and went on to claim that the Greeks were afraid as Athens is within the range of Turkish missiles.
Tayyip ErdoÄŸan also referred to Turkey’s possibilities for drilling in the Black Sea, in the Mediterranean and in third countries, taking pictures of possible drilling in the south of Crete in cooperation with Libya. In other words, he threatened to implement the recent memorandum signed by Ankara with Libya on hydrocarbons as a continuation of the illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum.
The commander of the Libyan National Army puts a brake on these plans of Turkey, however, from the Libyan side Khalifa Haftarwho after the rejection of the Turkish-Libyan memorandum by the international community, stated that he also does not accept the memorandum signed in early October between Tripoli and Ankara and notes “We will not allow Libya to be an open territory for colonial powers that they seek to deal with their own crises by claiming the wealth of the Libyan people.”
According to government sources, however, Greece will never follow the incendiary rhetoric of its neighbor which, for its own reasons and tactics, follows the path of escalation and provocations. On the contrary, Greece calmly and decisively follows its own strategy, which is focused, on the one hand, on absolute and continuous readiness to respond effectively to any challenge and, on the other hand, on informing international public opinion about Turkey’s delinquent behavior in the Aegean and in the Southeast Mediterranean.
“With this aggressive rhetoric of Turkey, the only thing that is certain is that the scope of the appeal of its views will continuously shrink,” commented the government representative during the briefing of the political editors, adding that “on the other hand, our country has taken care of both its foreign policy, as well as the moves it has made in the defense sector, to have shielded its deterrent capacity and to have expanded our own reach in terms of our views and our deterrent power”. Yiannis Oikonomou explained, for the umpteenth time, that “with International Law as an ally, with allies on our side, with our deterrent power upgraded, our country is neither terrified nor panicked and can respond to any challenge at any time which is not only a challenge to the country, but it is a challenge to International Law” he concluded.
