In fact, Mr. Economou notes that “narratives abound, evidence is lacking”, he characterizes Mr. Vaxevanis as a “national slanderer” and “tells tales” and wonders what his purpose is, while adding that Mr. Vaxevanis is “involved in financing with Russian TV network funds in our country” and has no guarantee of reliability.

What is reported in Mr. Vaxevani’s newspaper needs to be thoroughly investigated by the competent authorities and especially by the Greek Judiciary, even though no documentation of the publication appears.
Narratives abound, facts are lacking.
When such claims are made, two key questions are who is making them and what is their purpose.
• The national slanderer, the man who has surpassed in imagination and ingenuity even the greatest storytellers. The one whose subject matter and approach is identical with the national channel (the newspaper Makeleio). The one whose “revelations” are heralded by SYRIZA executives and Mr. Tsipras himself. And finally, the one who is involved in the financing with Russian funds of a television network in our country, obviously has no guarantee of reliability.
• What purpose does it serve when, without the slightest evidence, it attributes to the Prime Minister the scurrilous accusation that he was watching his ministers, their wives, businessmen, journalists and political opponents, things are clear: he is trying to hurt the government, to create a problem in New Democracy, to benefit those whom it serves devotedly and to put water in the mill of centers that have been disturbed by the Government and do not hide their dissatisfaction with the stability and security that Greece has achieved. Centers that would prefer another government, more convenient, and another prime minister, weak and controllable
Monitoring software exists in Greece as in the rest of Europe, but it has not been purchased and used by any public authority. The Government has sought from the first moment to investigate this case and an open judicial investigation is underway. At the same time, the severe institutional reaction of the Government is ready to this phenomenon, which creates national risks and is used by those who seek anomaly and unrest, at a critical juncture, at every level. The Government will proceed with the universal prohibition of their marketing, an act that will make Greece the first country in Europe to ban the circulation of malicious software in its territory.
The Greek state will evaluate every aspect of this issue. No mole will stay hidden.
