Statement by the president of PASOK-KINAL at the strike gathering in Klathmonos Square

An attack on the government was launched the president of PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakis, during his presence at the strike gathering in Klathmonos Square. As he said “the Government, instead of prioritizing protecting the vulnerable and the middle class, continues in this great financial crisis to be a traffic policeman for powerful financial interests”.

The full statement of Mr. Andrylakis follows:

The economic crisis is deeply unfair in our country and this can be seen from the effects compared to other European states.
In Greece, we have precision inflation for the vulnerable and the middle class and profit inflation for the powerful.
According to the data, households up to 750 euros monthly income have lost 40% of their purchasing power and households up to 1100 euros have lost about 14%.
At the same time, the large energy producers, while the price of the megawatt hour was around 400 euros and 233 euros in the two previous months, sold it at 600 and 800 euros.
And of course the banks, where the deposit interest rate difference from the average mortgage interest rate is the largest in Europe.
The Government, therefore, instead of having priority to protect the vulnerable and the middle class, continues in this great financial crisis to be a traffic policeman for powerful financial interests.
