By Antonis Anzoletou

They have taken over the Maximos Palace that the issue of surveillance will from now on be very high on the agenda of all opposition parties. Alexis Tsipras made it clear, by resubmitting the question to the prime minister, how will it persist until Kyriakos Mitsotakis to accept to come and answer him in Parliament. Today Olga Gerovasili will be at the Supreme Court to file a lawsuit after the newspaper “Documento” reported that her mobile phone was being monitored. THE Nikos Androulakis he has even spoken of an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights and the KKE is again requesting the convening of the Committee on Institutions and Transparency.

They also know in the government camp that the pressing will be hard and from publications expected in the near future, likely with new names of politicians who will be listed as targets for monitoring. The final draft of the conclusion of the PEGA Committee of the European Parliament is also expected, which has so far harshly criticized the majority, provoking the reaction of the European People’s Party.

In Herodos Attikou they are regrouping and the latest information says that until the beginning of next week they will have ready a 4-5 point legislative regulation that will be put to public consultation. It will initially include what the prime minister has announced: it will no longer be legal to trade in malicious software in the country. The ban will be universal and Greece will be the first state in Europe to have made such a move. Through the new provisions, the gates and filters will be significantly increased in terms of legal connections made by the National Intelligence Service, mainly for political figures. It will also include strengthening the accountability of the FSA and oversight of Parliament through the Institutions and Transparency Committee, as well as upgrading the role of the National Security Council to better utilize information and the FSA. If all goes according to plan the new attachment law will be passed within the next twenty days.

The government insists that the state, but also no government authority has procured or used malware. At the same time, the dialogue continues with European institutions and other countries that are looking to find solutions and answers to the issue of malicious software. The highly polarized environment in which the political dialogue takes place is the reason why suggestions and discussions to set the polls earlier in 2023 will not cease to exist in the ranks of the majority.

The opposition claims that the government took it yesterday a resounding message from the great mobilization in the center of Athens, which was not only about the hot topic of market revaluations but was a total protest. Alexis Tsipras from the SYRIZA “bloc” stated that “the workers and the Greek society are today giving a resounding response to the regime of precision, profiteering, insecurity, corruption, entanglement and indignity”. Nikos Androulakis accused the government that “instead of prioritizing protecting the vulnerable and the middle class, it continues in this great economic crisis to be a traffic policeman for powerful financial interests”. Dimitris Koutsoumbas from the PAME gathering stated that “the Greek people, their movement will not become accomplices, they will not show any tolerance to the anti-popular policy of the rulers, other parties of big capital, energy poverty and EU policies. E., of the rot of the capitalist system”.
