Nikos Dendias in Bahrain on Sunday – The meetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the signing of memorandums

During his stay in Bahrain, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will have a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will travel tomorrow, Sunday, November 20, 2022, to the Kingdom of Bahrain (Manama), where he will participate in the annual forum “Manama Dialogue” (November 18-20, 2022).

In particular, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in the panel on “New Security Partnerships in the Middle East”.

It is noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in this forum in 2021 as well, as the only European Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During his stay at Bahrain, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will have a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. After the private meeting between the two Foreign Ministers, extended talks will take place.

Subsequently, the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding is planned: a) Memorandum of Understanding on the exemption from visa requirements for diplomatic, service and special passports, and b) Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Diplomatic Education.

Finally, the two Foreign Ministers are expected to make joint statements to the press.

The talks between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs are expected to focus on the further strengthening of bilateral relations in areas of common interest, the adherence of the two countries to international law – including the Law of the Sea – as well as the developments and challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Gulf region.

It should be noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain visited our country last May.

The Foreign Secretary, on the sidelines of his participation in the “Manama Dialogue” forum, is expected to have meetings with the Secretary of State of the United Kingdom, James Cleverly, with the Coordinator of the US National Security Council for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, and with the Assistant Secretary General of Security and National Defense of France, Vincent Cousin.
