Measures to combat illegal immigration are adopted by Greece and Pakistan

At the Ministry of Immigration, in the “Kerani” building, the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Mr. Notis Mitarakis met with the Pakistani Minister of Expatriate Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Mr. Sajid Hussain Turi.

The need for action to combat illegal immigration was discussed in an excellent atmosphere, while it was emphasized that the dismantling of smuggling rings is a priority of the Government of Pakistan.

At the same time, the question of the return of irregular immigrants to Pakistan was raised, with the two ministers discussing the possibility of cooperation for the immediate resolution of the issue.

Mr. Mitarakis and Mr. Hussain Turi agreed to investigate the issue of granting legal permits for seasonal workers, i.e. for workers who will stay in our country for nine months per year, for a finite number of years.

Finally, the residency issues of Pakistanis residing in our country were raised.
