Monitoring, energy and refugee-immigrant issues were put on the agenda of the meeting between the two men

The wiretapping scandal, dealing with the energy crisis and the refugee-immigration issue were discussed at the meeting held today Thursday by the president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipras, with the vice-president of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas.

According to the press office of the party, Alexis Tsipras “stressed the importance of the recommendations of the responsible Commissioner Jourova in dealing with the wiretapping scandal, shielding the rule of law and ensuring media pluralism in Greece”. He also had the opportunity to point out the lack of solidarity shown at the European level, both in the energy sector and in the refugee-immigrant field. Mr. Tsipras, “underlined the need to finally have a European decision on a ceiling on natural gas, at levels that will contribute to dealing with the crisis, stressing that the ceiling under discussion – which is almost three times higher than the current price and is dictated by some interests in the European North – will worsen the crisis.’

Finally, always according to the same briefing, he underlined the need to adopt a fair Pact on Migration and Asylum, based on respect for international law and to establish mandatory relocations and legal and safe resettlement routes to the EU.
