Nikos Hardalias at the Berlin Security Conference

Mr. Hardalias, on the sidelines of the work of the Conference, met with his US counterpart for International Security Affairs, Celeste Wallander, and with the president of the EU Military Commission, General Robert Bridger.

The Deputy Minister of National Defense Nikos Hardalias participated in the last two days in the 22nd Berlin Conference on Security organized by the independent newspaper of German public employees “Behörden Spiegel”, with central topics the war in Ukraine, the role of NATO, the threats new type and the new technologies in equipment systems.

The partner country of this year’s Conference was Norway, while keynote speakers included Chancellor Olaf Solz, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Stere, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Defense Ministers of Germany Christine Lambrecht and Norway’s Björn Arild Gram, Sweden’s Pel Jonsson and Finland’s Andii Kaikkonen.

In the framework of the Conference, Germany and Norway announced their joint initiative to create a NATO mechanism for the protection of undersea energy and telecommunications infrastructures, while in parallel with the Conference an exhibition was held with pioneering new technologies in the field of security and defense.
