The Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni condemned her arson attack in the car of a diplomatic employee of the Italian embassy, ​​at the same time expressing her concern about the incident, which – as she says – was “probably of anarchist origin”.

Meloni in her statement says: “I express my personal closeness, as well as that of the Italian Government, to the First Counselor of the Italian Embassy in Athens, Susanna Schlein, and our deep concern about the attack against her, which was probably of anarchist origin . I am following the issue with complete attention, also through Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who is visiting Athens today.”

Both the Italian and Greek foreign ministries also condemned the attack.

With his announcement “the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the cowardly arson attack, targeting the car and the residence of the diplomat Suzana Sline, in Athens”.

At the same time, he expresses “maximum solidarity with his colleague and the staff of the Italian embassy, ​​pending investigations by the authorities, into the serious criminal attack”.

The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, via Twitter reported the following: “Attack against the first counselor of the Italian embassy in Greece. I called Susanna Sline to express my solidarity.

Today I will go to Athens, to meet the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and I will visit the Italian embassy”.

He also condemns the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs

“We unequivocally condemn yesterday’s attack against a vehicle belonging to a member of the diplomatic staff of the Italian Embassy in Athens,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says in a statement.

“Unacceptable and reprehensible actions, such as the one above, are not going to disrupt in any way the excellent relations and timeless ties of friendship between Greece and its partner and ally Italy,” he adds.
