Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the EPP Congress: Meetings with Von der Leyen, Tajani and Weber

THE Kyriakos Mitsotakis took part today in the proceedings of the two-day conference of its leaders European People’s Partyin Athens, on the sidelines of which he had bilateral meetings with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of Italy Antonio Tajani and the President of the EPP Manfred Weber.

The leaders’ meeting discussed the strategy of the European centre-right and important issues concerning the future of the European Union, such as energy security, economic governance and defence.

At the meeting of the prime minister with its president European Commissionwhich preceded it, discussed the challenges facing the European Union, with an emphasis on the war in Ukraine and common solutions to deal with the consequences of the energy crisis in view of the next European Council.

During the meeting with Mr. Tajani, the excellent level of Greek-Italian relations and the mutual desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation were noted. Kyriakos Mitsotakis unequivocally condemned the attack that targeted the car of a diplomat working at the Italian embassy in Athens and stressed that the Greek authorities are doing everything possible to identify and arrest those responsible.

The Prime Minister and President of the ND had with Mr. Weber a preliminary exchange of views regarding the strategy of the European People’s Party and the optimal coordination of initiatives in order to solve the real problems facing European citizens.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis also had a meeting with the head of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), Friedrich Merz.
