The prime minister, four former prime ministers and the entire government at the event held at the Pallas theater
The “Antonis Samaras Foundation” was inaugurated tonight, in an event that took place at the Pallas theater and developed into an invitation to “blue” unity.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, former Prime Ministers Kostas Karamanlis, Loukas Papademos, P. Pikramenos, the former Deputy Prime Minister Ev. Venizelos, almost all the ministers such as Nikos Dendias, Kostas Karamanlis, Niki Kerameos, Thanos Pleuris, G. Gerapetritis, T. Theodorikakos, K. Pierrakakis, Notis Mitarakis, V. Kikilias, N. Panagiotopoulos, Adonis Georgiadis, Makis Voridis, the former minister of Mich. Chrysochoidis, the Vice-President of the Parliament Charalambos Athanasiou, the Deputy Minister of National Defense Nikos Hardalias, the Deputy Minister of Health Zetta Makri, the commander of the TTT G. Stournaras, the Archbishop of Athens Ieronymos, the US Ambassador George Tsounis, Achilleas Karamanlis, uncle of the former Prime Minister, the mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyiannis and many more.
During his speech, the former prime minister emphasized that he himself has been a politician and remains a fighting politician.
“These days Western civilization is under unprecedented attack. In the name of human rights, some want to abolish borders… We embrace refugees, we respect immigrants, but we cannot tolerate the modern slave trade,” said the former prime minister.
Spikes against Europeans for energy
Mr. Samaras left clear points at the expense of the Europeans for the attitude they took in the energy sector. They discouraged new sources of gas and preferred Russian ones. “It was a massive blindness” he said of the attitude the Europeans took on energy and led the EU to energy dependence on Russia.
“Banned Russian oil is a farce. It will be sold to the EU by third countries,” he argued at another point in his speech and emphasized that Turkey has now aligned with Moscow.
There is a leadership vacuum in the West. Global political poverty is unprecedented. Political plans were lost. Instead of convergence there is divergence in the EU. The golden rule of cohesion has been lost. As is solidarity between partners. In order for Europe not to be torn apart by its contradictions, a re-establishment treaty is now needed.
For the Rafale and Belharra market
At the same time, the former prime minister referred to the purchase of Rafale and Belharra, saying that the decisions were very correct. The Agreements with the French and the USA credited to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis were also correct.
“It was very right that we got the Rafale and the modern Belharra frigates. It was very right that we proceeded to upgrade the agreements with the USA in Alexandroupolis, Souda and Stefanovikio. Geopolitically they were very correct choices. All this was done correctly and the current Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is certainly credited for it,” he said characteristically.
“Turkey is preparing its public opinion for a conflict with Greece. Its claims are described in the Blue Homeland. It requires us to renounce International Law and some want to drag us into dialogue and negotiations. To drag us to the Prespes of Agaios. We can prevent this.”
For hydrocarbons
The former prime minister referred with emphasis to the issue of the exploitation and extraction of hydrocarbons in Greece, recalling that it had started “during Samarovenizelon, so to speak, by Yannis Maniatis and SYRIZA came and stopped it. Fortunately, the Mitsotakis government and the responsible minister corrected that mistake.”
“The Eastern Mediterranean is the solution to the energy problem. In a short while Europe will be hungry for energy and Greece will be able to feed it,” he said characteristically. He even added that today Greece is armed.
For debt relief
Mr. Samaras also welcomed the decisions taken by the Eurogroup on debt relief and suggested that new productive investments in Greece should not be taxed for five years. “Let the Europeans not object to state aid. Why the Germans give 200 billion to support their businesses” he emphasized.
About the wiretapping
Referring to the issue of “legal and illegal surveillance that has plagued the public debate lately”, Mr. Samaras emphasized: I don’t believe, I don’t want to believe that the government intercepted telephone conversations, it would be unthinkable. If all this were true it would be an anti-democratic deviation. That is why clear answers must be given without second thoughts, without invoking confidentiality. ND established democracy in the country”.
