The Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis, left a window for new measures, speaking to SKAI and the show “Kalimera” in view of the Omicron mutation, but excluding a general lockdown.
As he said, the government took measures in view of the operation of Omicron, as from tomorrow, in order to come to Greece, one must have, in addition to a vaccination certificate, a negative PCR test of 48 hours. “So we make access to the country more difficult to prevent the introduction of many new cases, as Omicron begins to prevail. It is impossible for the new mutation not to come to Greece and for some kind of outbreak not to occur. “We are fighting to increase the vaccination rate,” he said.
He stressed that “apart from the general lockdown, I have never ruled out any other measure, because I do not know what the evolution of the pandemic will be. A general lockdown, however, is unlikely to occur “.
Asked to comment on the Tsiodra-Lytra study for ICUs, the Minister of Development stressed that it is a timeless problem of the NSS, noting that the same happened under the SYRIZA government and referred to yesterday’s “fapa” as described by the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris Polaki.
As he described yesterday, Plevris from the floor of Parliament stated that he had in his hands an announcement of POEDYN of January 16, according to which there were 78 intubated patients outside the ICU and half of them died. “And does anyone ask if the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health are responsible for this? And Polakis jumps up and shouts “yes, you and the prime minister”. Then the Minister of Health replies “but this is terrible, because this announcement is from 2017 and you were the Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Polakis, who says that it is your fault”. What did Sfakianos do to eat fapa? “He got up and left because he became a resilience of the dogs”, Mr. Georgiadis stated characteristically.
Measures to reduce energy costs
Regarding today’s announcements of the Prime Minister for the relief of households from the increases in energy, Mr. Georgiadis stated that they will satisfy everyone. “The much better than expected growth of the Greek economy in 2021, than it seems over 6.9%, enables the country to take measures to various social groups to deal with the energy and inflation crisis. The purpose of the government is always the same: From the dividend of the success of the country, everyone will receive their share. “No one is going to be left behind,” he said.
In fact, he expressed optimism that from March onwards the de-escalation of gas prices will begin, adding that no one expected such a big crisis in energy.
At the same time, he ruled out the possibility of Greek inflation reaching 5%, explaining that the high inflation in November (4.8%) was on an annual basis, while on a monthly basis, between October and November, it was only 0.5%.
He added that the prices of products on the shelf are impossible not to rise, because the cost of energy has increased. “But there is an optimistic point. If we look at the prices of raw materials worldwide, they have started to fall and in fact a lot. All this inflation crisis we are living in now started in July when the raw materials started to rise. So it is a precursor indicator that inflation in 2022 will be controlled. I believe that we will have a difficult first quarter with high inflation and then we will go to deflation. The disposable income of Greeks on an annual basis will not decrease either this year or next year. “Greece will be able to close in 2021 as one of the three most successful countries in Europe”, he underlined.
