The five-day discussion of the National Budgetfor 2023.
Interest is expected to peak on Saturday, December 17, 2022, with the positions of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the leader of the official opposition Al. Tsipras and the leaders of the parties.
The budget debate will completed – at the latest – midnight on Saturday. Immediately after, there will be a roll call open vote.
The bill entitled “Sanction of the State Budget for fiscal year 2023” has already been accepted, by a majority, by the competent committee of the Parliament. ND MPs voted in favor of the draft law, while SYRIZA-PS, PASOK-Change Movement, KKE, Hellenic Solution and MeRA25 MPs voted against.
Next year’s budget has already included measures amounting to 4.2 billion euros, but also a reserve of 1 billion euros for new aid, with priority given to subsidies to deal with the energy crisis.
The 2023 budget is the first state budget in the last twelve years to be drawn up outside the framework of mnemonic surveillance or enhanced supervision.
For 2023, all of the fiscal measures, amounting to 3.1 billion euros from national resources and 1.1 billion euros from co-financed resources, announced at the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki have been included and an additional 1 billion euros for increased costs to deal with the increased inflation and the energy crisis.
As regards the interventions for the following year, totaling 4.2 billion euros, of which 1.1 billion euros will be financed by the Public Investment Program, they mainly concern relief measures in the area of ​​taxes, but also of an insurance nature such as:
THE permanent abolition of the payment of the special levy of solidarity to civil servants, pensioners and the private sector from 2023, with the aim of increasing their real income (annual fiscal cost of 1.24 billion euros)
In addition, for the year 2023, it is planned to allocate resources amounting to 8.3 billion euros from the Public Investment Program and 7 billion euros from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, of which 3.6 billion euros from the grants section, in which
to date, 440 projects and emblematic investments amounting to 13.7 billion euros have been included
