The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metzola, in the shadow of Qatargate announced on Tuesday, after the end of the Conference of Presidents, that Eva Kaili is removed from the position of vice-president of the European Parliament and stripped of all her powers.

Roberta Metsola stressed at the Conference of Presidents that the Plenary of the European Parliament will vote for the second time during the day to remove the vice-president -out of 14 in total-, if she gathers a majority of two thirds of the House.

“The Conference of Presidents unanimously decided today that it proposes to the European Parliament the early termination of Eva Kaili’s powers”, announced the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.

Today at 1 p.m. Greek time, a vote will be held in the Plenary, during which the European Parliament will decide on the suspension of Eva Kaili’s powers. According to the regulation, a two-thirds majority of the voters is needed, which is also the majority of the members of the European Parliament.

It is noted that, based on Article 21 of the European Parliament’s rules of procedure, the Conference of Presidents may, by deciding with a three-fifths majority of the voters, representing at least three political groups, propose to the Plenary the termination of the term of office of the Vice-President, even the President himself or any other official who has been elected to Parliament, when he considers that the member in question has committed a serious misconduct.
