At the gates of the Belgian court, Eva Kaili – Is her pre-trial detention under consideration or not

Despite the information that has been here in Greece, Brussels has not confirmed the postponement of the proceedings due to a strike by court officials

From minute to minute, MEP Eva Kaili and the other three prisoners for Qatargate, which is shocking all of Europe, are arriving at the Brussels courthouse.

According to the correspondent of SKAI, Efi Koustokosta, the court will decide whether they will be released with restrictive conditions or will be remanded in custody.

As he said, despite the information that existed here in Greece, the postponement of the proceedings due to a strike by court officials is not confirmed in Brussels.

As reported by Efi Koutsokosta, the process will last many hours, while the prisoners will be transported under the utmost secrecy and the hearing will take place behind closed doors.

The judges will decide whether the four defendants are suspected of fleeing, suspected of committing new crimes or there is a risk of tampering with evidence.

A little earlier, the Belgian police published on Twitter new photos of the suitcases, in which the money was found, as part of the investigations.

According to a Belgian newspaper report L’Echo, the banknotes found during the investigations can give a big boost to solving the Qatargate case.

According to information from the newspaper, which the prosecution neither comments on nor denies, a large part of banknotes from 1.5 million euros found in the searches are new, wrapped in plastic film and recently issued.

Some of these notes were printed in Belgium, while the rest are still being examined.

This is an important piece of evidence, notes L’Echo, which could give impetus to the investigations.

Knowing where they were printed, it will be easy to find the bank from which the bundles were withdrawn, and therefore the bank account and identity of the person who made the withdrawal.

At the same time, the fingerprints from the banknotes will be analyzed and compared with those of the defendants or other persons questioned. But, as noted by the Belgian media, this process will take several weeks.
