Tsipras from Brussels: In Europe justice works, in Greece we must fight to restore it

“While the energy and inflationary crisis worsens and the European leadership is unable to find an effective solution even for the ceiling on the price of natural gas, Greece is again at the center of European interest for the wrong reasons, for negative reasons,” says the president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipras, in his statement entering the preparatory meeting of the European Socialist Party in Brussels.

“For the unimaginable scandal of illegal surveillance by the EYP with the Prime Minister in charge, but also for issues of corruption. The Kaili case is a deep wound for our political system but also a deep wound for the European Parliament”, noted Mr. Tsipras and commented:

“It is no coincidence that despite being a member of the group of European Socialists and Democrats, Mrs. Kaili was in close cooperation more with the European People’s Party and was a staunch supporter of the Mitsotakis government and a fierce opponent of every idea, every thought for the cooperation of the progressive forces in Greece, which is the only alternative to the government of Mr. Mitsotakis”.

“However, what we all have to deal with is how we will shape an institutional framework that will not allow this type of corrupt behavior. And if this is important once for Europe, where it seems that the institution of justice still works, it is twice as important and imperative for Greece, where it seems that we have to fight to defend democracy, the rule of law and to restore justice everywhere”, concluded the president of SYRIZA.
