PASOK-KINAL: The food pass works like aspirin – Demonstrates the failure of the household basket

PASOK – KINAL calls on the Prime Minister to immediately adopt the party’s proposals for dealing with inflation

“The pre-election allowance announced yesterday by Mr. Mitsotakis obviously does not compensate for the double bleeding of the incomes of the vast majority of citizens, due to high inflation and increased revenues from consumption taxes”, emphasizes in a statement the PASOK – Movement for Change.

He also points out that “food prices are at their highest point in the last 13 years and far outpace general inflation. According to ELSTAT, on an annual basis food prices increased by 15%, with some items, such as dairy products and oils, reaching up to 25.3%. For this reason, the “10% inflation, 10% return” said by the Prime Minister is a mockery, especially for the pre-election period.

“The food pass absorbing only a small portion of inflation acts like aspirin and demonstrates the failure of the much-vaunted, but flawed, household basket. We call on Mr. Mitsotakis, instead of appearing as a miracle worker who multiplies “the five loaves and two fishes” to meet the needs of an entire society, to immediately adopt the realistic proposals of PASOK – Movement for Change to deal with the inflation that is consuming the public income”, the announcement concludes.
