What the Minister of Rural Development Giorgos Georgantas said about livestock farmers and Market Pass

A guest on SKAI’s “Today” show was the Minister of Rural Development, Giorgos Georgantas, who spoke to Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos both about the Market Pass and about farmers and breeders.

Regarding the “Market Pass” he reminded the criteria to give the allowance with the platform opening in February, while emphasizing that “there is also an asset limit. For example, a couple that has assets of more than 400,000 euros, is not entitled to the Market Pass”.

As far as farmers are concerned he emphasized that “about 900 million euros of subsidies have begun to be credited to farmers’ accounts, which is the payment of the basic support for the so-called greening, and from noon onwards they will be available in their accounts.

And yesterday the payment of 60 million euros for the purchase of fertilizers was made.”

Mr. Georgantas pointed out that “no measure can completely relieve the farmers of the burden of production, but we cover a large part of the increase.

»Our support is continuous both with oil and with the agricultural stream where the support is also important. We support without escaping financially.

As far as breeders are concerned, noted that “they had a problem in the Spring. I think now the situation has balanced out. They are well priced, they definitely need extra support. We are left with the aid for the purchase of animal feed, which will be done immediately, but it does not mean that we will not be around from the new year to support them.”

Finally, Mr. Georgantas, referring to the elections, placed them “at the end of spring, beginning of summer”.
