The representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry claims that “it is impossible for any country, company or ship to participate in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation activities on our continental shelf in the Eastern Mediterranean without our permission.”
Black and white do, again, the anchor, accusing Nicosia of… escalating tension in the Eastern Mediterranean by exercising its legal and internationally recognized hydrocarbon exploration rights.
As reported by SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis, supporting a similar statement by the pseudo-state, the representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Tanzu Bilgits, claims that “it is impossible for any country, company or ship to participate in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation activities on our continental shelf in Eastern Mediterranean without our permission.”
“Such an escalation of tension in the Eastern Mediterranean will not benefit any party (…) Our country will continue to protects decisively both its own and the rights of the TRNC in the Eastern Mediterranean” the Turkish official states menacingly.
Tanzu Bilgic’s statement in detail:
“We fully support yesterday’s (December 22) statement by the ‘Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ of the ‘TRNC’ regarding this matter. It is impossible for any country, company or ship to engage in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation activities on our continental shelf in the Eastern Mediterranean without our permission. Since these activities of the “Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus” are carried out unilaterally without the consent of the “TRDB”, co-owner of all the natural resources of the island, they violate the rights of the “Turkish Cypriots” increase tension in the Eastern Mediterranean and threaten peace and stability . We would like to remind both the countries of the region and the third parties behind which the ‘E/K side’ is hiding that such an escalation of tension in the Eastern Mediterranean will not benefit any party, while our T/President’s proposal to holding a conference on the Eastern Mediterranean in 2020 and the four cooperation proposals of the ‘TRNC’ to the ‘E/K side’ on hydrocarbon resources are still on the table.
“Our country will continue to resolutely protect both its own and the TRNC’s rights in the Eastern Mediterranean and will continue to support the TRNC’s hydrocarbon activities in the future.”
