Today the President of the Republic heard traditional Christmas carols from Thrace to Kastellorizo and mantinades for health and well-being Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Presidential Palace.
A special moment, which moved both Mrs. Sakellaropoulou and all those present, when the multi-awarded Mrs. Evangelia Xenopoulou, President of the Association “Kastellorizo Music and Dance Group” she sang the traditional carols of the island and dedicated a song of her own to the late Kyra tis Ro.
Wearing the traditional costume of Kastellorizos and holding the Greek Flag in her hands, Mrs. Xenopoulou also sang an improvised mantinada in honor of the President of the Republic and expressed her special joy for her frequent visits to the unacritic island Greece.
Mrs. Xenopoulou has been awarded by the Academy of Athens and is known both in Greece and abroad for her contribution to the preservation and dissemination of the cultural heritage of Kastellorizos.
As every year, the festive ceremony at the Presidential Palace began with Armed Forces Bandwho played Christmas carols and Holy Night, in honor of the President of the Republic in front of her office and they exchanged wishes for the holidays.
Afterwards, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou heard Christmas Carols and traditional Thracian Carols from Presidential guardnext to the big Christmas tree in the credentials room of the Presidential Palace, followed by the agencies and clubs.
First, the little students from the Private Kindergarten of Salamina sang carols to the President.Little Euripides” and immediately after Gymnasium of the Greek-French School of the Ursulines.
This was followed by Epirotian carols and traditional dances by the members of the Cultural Association of Epirotians of Agia Varvara.INFINITELY» and then o Association of Brakoforers of Cretewho sang the Christmas carols of Crete, danced traditional Cretan dances and dedicated a special mandinada to the President of the Republic.
As their leader said: “The first female President is standing in Meterizi. With knowledge, ethics and humanity that characterizes you” and expressed his thanks to Mrs. Sakellaropoulou, characteristically saying “we are happy and proud of our President”.
Upon completion of the ceremony, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou exchanged greetings with the journalists and photographers and they all took a commemorative photo together.
