The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou visited her after noon Presidential guard for the traditional cutting of the New Year’s pie.

During her visit, the President of the Republic made the following statement:

“I am happy to be with you again this year at the traditional cutting of the New Year’s pie. The reach of the Presidential Guard goes beyond the borders of our country, the Evzonas is a symbol and part of our national identity, you experience it also in your travels abroad.

The way you carry out your duties and your dedication to the tradition of the institution is touching and proves how much it radiates to the younger children. I wish you all the best, that you continue to serve the Presidential Guard as long as you are here, until you are succeeded by the next ones.

In the morning, the President of the Republic participated in the doxology for the celebration of the new year at the Athens Cathedral and then received wishes from representatives of the political, military, religious and spiritual leadership at the Presidential Palace.
