“The Greeks will blockade the Aegean”: Attack on Greece by Turkish state television for the 12 miles

“Greece is trying to create a climate of conflict” claims the Turkish state channel TRT Haber, with the Turks returning to their great fear…

The Turkish state channel TRT Haber launched an attack on Greece, on the occasion of the possible expansion of territorial waters 12 miles from Athens.

As reported by SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis, in the report the Turks claim that “the extension of Greek territorial waters to 12 miles will change the balance of interests in the Aegean against Turkey. Today, due to its islands, Greece owns 40% of the Aegean, in the case of the extension of territorial waters to 12 miles, this percentage will increase to 70%. As a result, the percentage of open sea will decrease to 19% from the 50% it is today, while Turkish territorial waters will be less than 10% of the Aegean. Greece’s insistence on 12 miles in the Aegean is part of the effort to lock Turkey into a narrow maritime zone not only in the Aegean, but also in the Southern Mediterranean, and exclude it from the sources of natural wealth. Greece’s attempt to block Turkey’s exit to the Southern Mediterranean began when gas fields were found off the coast of Cyprus in 2010.”

“Greece with its habits from the 19th and 20th centuries is trying to create a challenging climate and environment of conflict and to bring the countries of the West to the Aegean” claimed a journalist at TRT Haber, with the Turks to return to their great feari.e. the alliance of Greece with major Western countries such as in 1920…

“In Turkey they fear that Greece will create accomplished in the Aegean, and in Crete”, which is why last week Hulusi Akar and Ibrahim Kalin threatened Greece with war if it expands its territorial waters in Crete”, commented Manolis Kostidis.

“For Greece, International Law and the International Law of the Sea are the holy gospel, the holy book of our foreign policy. And we are happy to discuss and cooperate with countries and leaders who have the same approach as us,” Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said on Wednesday.
