A few hours are now left before the “last farewell” to the former King Constantine and the eyes, in addition to the representatives of the kings of Europe and the high personalities who will attend the Metropolis, are focused on the executives of the ND, ministers and parliamentarians, who will give the present to pay homage to the former King.

In fact, the political “upgrading” of the governmental representation of the government by the vice-president Panagiotis Pikramenos – apart from the Minister of Culture Linas Mendoni – seems to have helped the undecided blue-collar officials to reach their decision more easily.

The fact that the Maximos Palace did not give directives on the question of presence and did not issue “prohibitive» to MPs, Ministers and officials for their presence at the funeral of the former.

In this political environment, the presence of former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is now certain this morning in the Metropolis where he is expected to attend around 10.15 in the morning, shortly before the end of the popular pilgrimage to the chapel of Agios Eleftherios, accompanied by his wife Georgia Samara.

His presence was considered almost certain after all, after the statement he had made with clear distances from the government’s decision to bury the former as a private person.

It is almost certain that the Minister of the Interior Makis Voridis will also attend, who from the first moment of the news of the death of the former, also differentiated himself from the “central” approach and in his post had stated:King Constantine was an integral part of Greek history and his death closes an important cycle that determined the post-political course of the country. I express my sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones».

Among the political appearances in the Metropolis will be recorded the ND MP Giorgos Koumoutsakos, who puts forward the human dimension and in his post on social media said: “I am not a devotee of the monarchy which is, after all, a hermetically sealed chapter of our history. But on a human level, honoring the dead is for us Greeks an integral part of our culture, values and traditions. From this purely human side I intend to appear in the Metropolis”.

At the last moment, it seems that the Minister of Health Thanos Pleuris will decide, in whose reasoning the fact that there is no prohibition for the executives or Ministers of the ND to attend the Metropolis, arguing that the issue is not political, and by extension privately the everyone will do what they want.

Deputy Minister of Health Zoi Rapti, who maintains good relations with the former’s son Nikolaos and his wife Tatiana Blatnik, seems to be vacillating until the last moment.

Among the MPs present in the Metropolis will be ND MEP Anna Michele Asimakopoulou, whose godfather was the former King, while ND MPs from Messinia Miltos Chrysomallis and Periklis Mandas will be present, as well as ND MP for Thessaloniki Dimitris Vartzopoulos, who are close to former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

From his institutional role, the presence is also expected to be given to the Metropolis by the governor of Athens, Giorgos Patoulis.

Despite his initial intention, Lakonia MPs Thanasis Davakis and Neoklis Kritikos will ultimately not attend the funeral, due to the visit of A/GETHA Konstantinos Floros to the region.

It is certain that the Minister of Development, Adonis Georgiadis, would be present at the Metropolis if he was not absent abroad as he announced, but if he is, his wife Eugenia Manolidou will attend.

From Sunday afternoon I will be in Kuwait, but if I were here I would go to the funeral of the late King ConstantineAdonis Georgiadis stated in an interview, mentioning that he had a personal relationship with the former king and his sons.

On the contrary, it is considered certain that the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Stelios Petsas, will ultimately not attend the Metropolis, despite his much-discussed post upon hearing of the death of the former King, in which he wrote:End of season. He was an Olympian, an Officer, a King. Always Greek. Condolences to his family».
