The prime minister will be in Davos, Switzerland today and tomorrow, where after two years when the World Economic Forum was organized for the most part remotely due to the pandemic, the attendance this year is very large.

Organizers expect more than 1,500 business leaders to sign up for what they say is the largest business turnout ever at Davos, with more than 2,700 participants in total.

More than 50 heads of state and government, 19 central bank governors, 30 trade ministers and 35 foreign ministers from around the world, as well as heads of international organisations, representatives of bodies, lobbies and NGOs, are debating throughout this week, in the Swiss winter resort, Davos with the most resounding absence recorded of course by Russia.

In this environment, the Greek prime minister will have the opportunity to highlight the positive performance of the Greek economy in the midst of managing successive crises, with the most important being the energy and inflationary crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Both publicly and during the private meetings that Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have, he will refer to the improvement of the investment environment, the investment opportunities that are opening up in Greece and the prospects of the Greek economy, whose goal remains the recovery of the investment grade.

The prime minister during his two-day program in the small alpine town of Switzerland, where the heart of the world economy beats this week, continuing his “sprint” of contacts throughout his tenure and international promotion of the “brand name” of Greece and the prospects of the Greek economy, will have a series of meetings with business representatives from the technology sectors – among them the CEO of Intel – education, banking and others.

In them he will have the opportunity to explain how Greece, named by the Economist as the OECD economy with the best performance in 2022, but also as the country with the greatest improvement in the investment environment from 2019 to date, has achieved what it has succeed, in the midst of exogenous major crises.

High on the agenda of the discussions of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with his interlocutors will be the digital transformation of the country that has pushed Greece into the new era, while at the center of the discussions will be the movements of Greece at the center of the co-shaping of European decisions, as throughout the difficult period of the previous years, both during the pandemic and during the energy crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Greek prime minister is even expected to highlight the initiatives he undertook and promoted at the European level for solutions to the energy crisis and energy security, but also to the role played by our country as a force of reliability, stability and security in the region at a critical juncture, due to of developments in Ukraine.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis is still invited to meetings where, in addition to representatives of top companies, important figures from the fields of the media, politics and diplomacy participate.
