The Prime Minister who is participating in the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland, met today with a series of leading business actors.
The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, had meetings with leading business actors yesterday as part of his participation in the work of the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland.
The Prime Minister met with Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda, which discussed the importance of training and retraining as technology advances change the labor market. The Prime Minister emphasized that Greece has adopted active employment policies, emphasizing the acquisition of digital skills, valid certification, the development of technical education and the better connection of education with the market. Coursera’s successful collaboration with Greece was also noted, as in the past it offered training programs for the unemployed free of charge, in collaboration with DYPA.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis still had talks with Jeffrey Jaensubhakij, Chief Investment Officer of the GIC group of Singapore, with whom he discussed the progress and excellent prospects of the Greek economy. The meeting took place in the context of the constant tightening of bilateral exchanges, as the Prime Minister met with his Singaporean counterpart in December, on the sidelines of the EU-ASEAN Summit, while the GIC group has concluded in Greece the largest investment agreement in the European hotel market in period after the outbreak of the pandemic.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also had a meeting with AstraZeneca’s Chairman of the Board, Leif Johansson, with whom he spoke about the importance of public health systems, which was particularly highlighted during the pandemic, about the possibilities of early diagnosis of diseases that new technologies will offer in the near future and about the policy of free preventive examinations, such as the “Fofi” program Gennimata”, which Greece is now implementing.
The Prime Minister also met with them CEOs of Allianz, Oliver Bäte and The Coca-Cola Company, James Quinceywith which the potential of the Greek economy and the challenges facing the global economy in the midst of the energy and inflationary crisis were examined.
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, the Prime Minister took part in a discussion organized by the Tony Blair Institute’s “The Tomorrow Partnership” initiative, which focuses on harnessing new technologies and digitization to solve major public policy challenges, such as strengthening public health and equal access to modern education.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented the successes of Greece in the digitization of state functions and services to citizens, while he had the opportunity to exchange views with executives of software development and technology companies.
