Economy: The “heavy artillery” of the government and the battle of the Region

As all the polls show so far, the economic issues and their solution are the ones that concern all the citizens the most and that is where the vote battle will take place.

The Prime Minister’s press conference on the economy – the first of a series of thematic interviews planned by the Maximos Palace in the run-up to the elections – seems to have cut the thread of the pre-election period that is now counting down to the ballot box, while placing the economy in the position it holds in every election battle, at the top.

After all, the Maximos Palace considers the economy and its management to be its privileged field, despite the many crises the country has had to face, drawing on the positive performances it has recorded and the positive impact and recognition they have abroad.

Besides, as all polls so far show, the economic issues and their solution are the ones that concern all the citizens the most and that is where the battle for the vote will be played.

In this context, the account of the government’s economic policy as well as the planning for the next four years, as long as the citizens trust it again, will be unfolded and analyzed many times until we reach election Sunday, and it will concern not only the national objectives but also at the local level, the regional programs that will give breaths of development to local communities.

This strategy has already begun to unfold with the press interviews that the prime minister has established to give during his tours throughout Greece and will continue with the same “motto” throughout the pre-election period.

Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, on January 25-26, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit Heraklion, Crete, where he is also expected to give a press conference.

A tour that aims to boost the percentages of the blue faction on the island, as in the 2019 elections in all four prefectures of Crete, SYRIZA had dominated despite the increased percentages of the ND.

It is a tough battle that the prime minister himself is willing to fight personally – due to his origin – in order to change the color of the island’s electoral map and let blue dominate.

A goal that Piraeus believes can be achieved and the reversal can occur, as if SYRIZA benefited from the steep drop in PASOK’s percentages in the last election contests, in the upcoming elections, the return of Harilaou Trikoupis changes the facts.

Both with the thematic press conferences and those that the prime minister will give at the local level, the main goals are to catch the pulse of the citizens as a whole, but also especially of a portion that have not yet reached a conclusion or been convinced, the so-called undecideds.

A “category” of citizens that, according to opinion polls, ranges from 12% to 15%.

A not inconsiderable percentage, which can drastically change the data the day after the election.

It is estimated that if Kyriakos Mitsotakis manages to win even half of the undecideds, it is very likely that he will be very close to independence, if the measurements that bring the ND close to 33% also reflect the real intentions.

After Crete and until election Sunday, the Prime Minister’s tours, according to the plan that has been drawn up, will intensify and most of them in the region are expected to be two-day long according to the standards of all previous ones (Achaia, Eastern Macedonia – Thrace, Crete).

After Heraklion, Kozani, Larissa and Lamia are listed on the tour agenda, regions with a significant role in the election results, while always in between, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will not miss the presence from regions of Attica, as he did last week with the visit to Korydallos.
