Bilateral relations between Greece and the USA are stronger than ever and the two countries are strengthening their transnational cooperation in areas of common interest, emphasized the Deputy Minister of the Interior (Macedonia – Thrace), St. Kalafatis tonight, at the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce’s pie cutting.

We proved it with the signing and approval by the Greek Parliament of the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement. Faced with the uncertainty and risks that the new year holds, our country, in recent years, has become increasingly powerful, economically, geopolitically and defensively. It can thus ensure growth rates three times the European average condition, to drastically reduce unemployment, generate new wealth and support the economically weak”.

Mr. Kalafatis referred in particular to Thessaloniki and the wider region of Northern Greece, which as he said is becoming a “transportation and energy hub”, as well as the role of the government and YMATH in this perspective of further upgrading the cooperation with the countries of of the Balkans and Southern Europe and underlined: “Thessaloniki is already turning into an attractive HUB of investments in digital technologies with the trust shown by global giants, such as Cisco, Pfizer, Deloitte, Deutsche Telekom and recently Google”.

Mr. Kalafatis also referred to the Agenda for Thessaloniki 2030, with more than thirty infrastructure projects, but also to the actions of the development law and added: “We are strengthening and expanding even more our excellent international relations in areas of common interest.
