According to the Minister of Immigration, “it was about a woman, cultured, educated and very self-confident who had nothing to do with the image of the economic immigrant”
The lie about the death of little Maria in Evros was revealed to SKAI and George Autias by the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis.
“When the group of 38 arrived in Greece on August 15, the next day I went to Evros to hear what had happened. Few people said that the little girl died – Baida among them – and an investigation was immediately started,” said the minister.
Within two weeks that had proved to be a lie – the family had only ever had four children, who were found to be in good condition, as seen in video footage released from the islet, Mr Mitarakis said.
According to the Minister of Immigration, “it was about a woman, cultured, educated and with great self-confidence who had nothing to do with the image of the economic immigrant”.
“When the lawyers testified in July 2022 who are trapped on the island, Baida was not on the list of names. The woman appeared in the group at the last minute, organized, equipped with the powerbank to charge her mobile phone, with which she was communicating with two media in Germany and Britain and receiving instructions,” he said.
Bayda illegally left Greece for Germany after her statement to the authorities.
