Tsavousoglou’s new challenge: The domination of the militarized Aegean islands is debatable

by

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Tsavousoglou has once again raised the issue of questioning the sovereignty of the Greek islands, noting at the same time that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Dendias “are trying to increase tension in the Aegean and this is dangerous.”

During a press conference for the report of the year, the Turkish Foreign Minister stated: “In our relations with Greece, we did not show tolerance for hostile actions against our country.

We left no gaps either in diplomacy or in the field, on important issues such as the issue of demilitarization of the Aegean islands. “Also, in a letter we sent to the UN, we recorded that in case of violation of the regime of demilitarization of the Aegean islands, their sovereignty is debatable.”

At the same time, Tsavousoglou succeeded against Messrs. Mitsotaki and Dendia, noting that “the efforts of the Prime Minister of Greece as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs to artificially increase the tension in the Aegean, are dangerous for peace and stability. “Our position on this issue is clear, as is our determination.”
