The president of SYRIZA referred to the debate on the motion of no confidence and especially on the last day of the debate last Friday, launching an attack on both the prime minister and the governing majority, speaking of a state of rot and institutional decay. “We declare today that we will not legalize the diversion, even if the ND MPs decided to do so last Friday, after the evidence of the diversion. This government is morally and politically degraded. It cannot stay any longer, we demand the immediate dissolution of the parliament and the appeal to the people’s verdict, immediately, within the next three weeks, at least. Let the people decide and not the blackmailed parliamentarians of the ND. crisis of the Greek people, SYRIZA will not legitimize the legislative work of a government, which is a diversionary government. From now on, with the exception of the amendment for the exclusion of neo-Nazis, we will refrain from any vote in the parliament and from today we begin our march to the Greek people, because they can defend democracy.

In particular, Mr. Tsipras said in his introduction:

The now irrefutable evidence of the monitoring by the EYP under the responsibility of the Prime Minister of the military leadership, ministers, party leaders, MEPs and journalists, as well as the evolution of the debate in the Parliament, create new data that no one has the right to ignore.
The debate and the conclusion of the motion of no confidence that we tabled, in addition to the prime minister’s guilt, revealed that the erosion of the institutions of democracy, but also the parallel and dangerous erosion of social cohesion, have unfortunately progressed very deeply.

The abuse of the rule of law comes to impose and cover up the massive redistribution in favor of the few and at the expense of the many.
Profiteering, which costs households dramatically, is legitimized and protected in the most blatant and provocative way.

In recent years in our country, the powerful are getting stronger, sky-high profits are becoming the norm, while the social majority, the middle class, the workers, are being pushed to the margins of insecurity, poverty and anxiety about tomorrow.

And corruption characterizes every act of government, as shown by the continuous scandals of the embezzlement of public money, the orgy of direct assignments, and the latest revelations about the intertwining of sectors of the state even with organized crime.

Never before has a ruling majority been so widely linked to such serious cases of corruption.
Names such as Patsis, Stasis, Heimaras, Maraveyas, Nikolaou, Petsas, are today synonymous with major government scandals.

In our estimation, the wiretapping network that was carefully set up inside the Maximos Palace, under the responsibility of the Prime Minister himself, was not a failure, a mistake, an accidental development.

It was a conscious and complex plan that came to supplement and cover the networks of theft and corruption.
This thicket of networks of corruption and lawlessness in the Rule of Law is exactly what we called the Mitsotakis regime from the very beginning.

Mr. Mitsotakis, proven now and with the stamp of the competent independent authority according to the Constitution, is an abuser of the democratic power granted to him by the Greek people.
An unrepentant abuser in fact, as his attitude proved from the first day that the activities of the parastatal began to be revealed.
Because the evidence that the competent authority collected from the telecommunications providers is obviously only the tip of the iceberg.
As legitimate attachments were only relevant in cases of targets that did not trigger the malware.
And there were dozens of targets.
The private life of the citizen became the burden of a criminal network under the supervision of the Prime Minister himself, with the obvious aim of extortion, the distribution of the clothes of the state, the manipulation of political developments, the falsification of the popular will.

National security, which Mr. Mitsotakis constantly invokes to justify the huge armament expenditures, unfortunately also became a victim of power and money games with mafia methods.

And there followed an unprecedented arrest operation by all means.
By lies, by blackmail, by intimidation, by manipulation of justice, by invoking privacy, by character assassination.

Last rung on this ladder of Evil last Friday.

Mr. Mitsotakis managed to turn the parliamentary majority into an instrument of diversion.
It neutralized the Parliament and annihilated its irreplaceable role in controlling the executive power and protecting institutions and democracy.

However, the sight of a majority unanimously approving the abuse of power by its leader is a danger signal for every democratic citizen.
The spectacle of EYP “targets”, who support their surveillance in essence, remain in their positions, align themselves with the perpetrators of wiretapping, produces political decay.
Such a state of decay and political decay cannot and should not be tolerated by any democratic man.

So we declare today as the official opposition and as the main body of the democratic faction in our country, that we will not legalize this unprecedented deviation, even if 156 ND MPs decided to legalize it.

After the revelations of the diversion evidence.
After the prime minister’s refusal to give even an answer.
This government for us and for every democratic citizen, morally and politically degraded.
He cannot stay a moment longer.

We therefore request the immediate dissolution of the Parliament and the appeal to the popular verdict, within three weeks, as the Constitution stipulates.
We ask that the Greek people be the ones to answer directly, and not the blackmailed parliamentarians of the ND, to the crucial, existential question that was posed the day before yesterday in parliament:
With democracy or diversion.

And we convey the motion of no confidence to the people.
The supreme judge.
Because in democracy there are no dead ends.

And we declare that as long as Mr. Mitsotakis refuses to do the obvious, to appeal to the judgment of the Greek people for what he has committed against democracy and the Rule of Law, SYRIZA-PS will not legitimize the legislative work of a perverted government.

From now on, with the exception of our participation in dealing with the attempt to bring the neo-Nazi criminal gang back to the fore, we will abstain from any vote in Parliament.

And from today we start our journey towards the Greek people because only they can and the time has come to defend democracy and social justice.

Finally, we call on all democratic parties, social organizations, self-government, unions, to set aside any differences and create a solid defense wall of democracy.
We call upon democratic citizens to take the cause of democracy into their own hands.
With the belief that democracy exists and lives as long as its defense is the business of every citizen.
