“The nightmare is over. Democracy and the rule of law will return. Justice will once again become the norm”
With the dilemma “by democracy or perversion” to which “the same people” are called to answer, the president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipras, began his speech at the closed “Andreas Papandreou” stadium in Peristeri, speaking of a “message of victory and change” and of “the counterattack of Democracy”.
“The 156 ND MPs will not answer this existential question for the country. The millions of Greek men and women will answer. The Greek people will answer at the ballot box, just as our Constitution stipulates. From today, therefore, we transfer the motion of no confidence against the worst, the most dangerous post-colonial government, from the Parliament to the Greek people themselves”, he said characteristically, declaring:
“From here, from Peristeri, we start the march together to the people, for the great victory and political change. For the progressive government that the country needs. For the restoration of the rule of law and social justice”.
“The nightmare is over. Democracy and the rule of law will return. Justice will once again become the norm. Inequalities, injustice, parastatal methods, corruption, worthlessness will soon come to an end”, he noted, adding that “together we will get Greece out of the quagmire, the bleakness and the decline. Together we will rebuild the foundations for a Greece of justice and progress”.
Al. Tsipras underlined that “during the last three and a half years, there is too much that our eyes have seen”, “there is too much that we have lived through and we have paid dearly for”. Among other things, he referred to the government’s responsibilities for the “losses” of the pandemic which are “higher in the entire western world in proportion to the population of” Greece, for the “dissolution of the National Health Service”, the “opening of public health to speculation”, the “looting” of public funds with direct assignments, but also the effects on vulnerable households and businesses from the wave of precision and profiteering.
