This is the third time that the President has visited the port of Piraeus to stand by the homeless in extremely difficult weather conditions

The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropouloudemonstrating her practical support for our fellow human beings who are being tested, went tonight to the Port of Piraeus and distributed meals to the homeless.

This is the third time the President has visited the port of Piraeus to stand by the homeless in extremely difficult weather conditions. With her, in addition to the “Doctors of the World”, were two former homeless people, who have now joined programs, as well as the General Secretary of Social Solidarity & Combating Poverty, Giorgos Stamatis.

One of the homeless, wanting to express his gratitude to the President of the Republic, addressed the General Secretary, Mr. Stamatis, and said, “Thank you, George, for introducing me to a ‘Man'”, while the response of all the homeless towards the President, who she kept her promise and was with them again.

It is worth noting that, compared to last year, the number of homeless people has clearly decreased in the port of Piraeus, as many have now moved to structures, joining the respective programs, while the efforts of the competent agencies continue to convince the rest.

The food portions were prepared by the chef of the Presidency of the Republic Vassilis Bekas, who for the umpteenth time participates in similar actions of the Presidency.

Afterwards, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou visited the Group’s Social Integration Structure for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands and discussed with the guests about the problems they face, stressing the importance of solidarity.

Several of them remembered the President from the opening of the structure and rushed to talk to her while receiving the food she served them, stressing that her presence is a special honor for all of them.

Mrs. Sakellaropoulou served more than 95 people in the dormitory and wished them good strength in these cold days we are going through.
