“The Mitsotakis government proved today that it sought anything but consensus” says Mrs. Tsapanidou
Responsibilities to the government because, as it states, “The opportunity to have a broad majority was lost on an issue that unites us all”, says the representative of SYRIZA-PS, Popi Tsapanidou, referring to the debate in the Parliament on “the Kasidiari party”.
“The Mitsotakis government proved today that it was seeking anything but consensus,” says Ms. Tsapanidou and adds: “While SYRIZA-PS agreed to take a step back from its initial proposal and finally propose as a compromise solution the proposal of the constitutionalists Alivizatou – Kontiadis, the government insisted on its own problematic provision”.
Continuing, he accuses the government representative that “hypocrisy abounds in his statement”. Looking back, he argues: “The Samara government kept the case files on the AXA in the drawer until the tragic murder of Pavlos Fyssas, and the secretary of the Samara government, Takis Baltakos, was talking to Kasidiaris. The ND was the only party that did not send a member of parliament to testify at the AXA trial. The ND hosts the “serious ACA”, it was with the ACA in the rallies for the Prespa Agreement and it never condemned the fascist violence that the MPs and SYRIZA officials accepted at the time. The Mitsotakis government left Kasidiaris unchecked for two years to organize his followers from prison even with online broadcasts, while just a few days ago the AXA got permission to hold a rally in Athens as a ‘political party’.” In closing, he states: “So, it is too much for ND to point the finger at the Left and the Democratic Party, especially after yesterday’s insult by Mr. Mitsotakis to characterize the EAM as “one of the worst moments in history”.
