On Sunday, February 12, the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Nikos Hardalias, visited units of the Army in Xanthi Prefecture, completing his visits to formations and units of the Armed Forces in Central, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
As announced, accompanied by the commanders of the 1st Army Lt. General Ioannis Tsioplo and the 4th Army Corps Lt. General Dimokritos Constantatos, he went to the headquarters of the 724th Engineer Battalion (724th TMX), the 744th Engineer-Bridge Company and the 316th Area Technical Workshop in Toxotes Xanthi .

He also took a tour of the modern museum with the impressive, historical exhibits of the Engineer Weapons and inspected the Engineer machines, fire engines and metal prefab mabey articulated bridges, which the 4th Army Corps has received, in the context of assisting in the prevention and response to natural disasters, through of NSRF programs implemented by the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
It is recalled that, within the year 2022, through the NSRF 2014-20 program, 24 machines and special Engineer vehicles were received, absorbing credits totaling 4,426,621.00 euros.
At the same time, 2 of the 3 bridge collections have been received, in a program amounting to 1,990,200.00 euros.
Within 2023, a program of the NSRF 2014-2020 is being implemented, in the total amount of 7,887,699.40 euros, which concerns a total of 34 Engineering Machinery (8 have been received) and the receipt of a total of 8 Firefighting vehicles to deal with natural disasters is expected, in a program in the amount of 5,254,298.40 euros.
